The
Best Robot HooverThe best
robot vacuum cleaner uk hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dust bin and place it in a larger bin at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.
It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you need to change the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the
Best robot vacuum cleaner UK robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms that had various flooring types, such as certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds and cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the bulky models of the competitors. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device which could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and better-looking. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some additional cost it's a capable two-in-one that should delight most.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.
The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house depending on how dirty those areas tend to be.
If you have a larger home, it's worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to inform the
robot vacuum cleaners uk of which area of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you own a number of furniture. Finally a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It is a
good robot vacuum vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
