Path of Exile Item Upgrading

item upgrading (reviews over at Univ Tebessa) allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost its base stats or adding additional perks. To upgrade an Best item upgrade, a player has to have it in their inventory, as well as access to the kiln.

Items with weak bases, like rings can be upgraded to a stronger base. Items with strong bases, such as Titans from eth, have no changes in their stats.

Upgrade components

There are three kinds of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, can be placed in any kind of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are jewels that are only available in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They offer the same bonuses as jewels, but cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item upgrades they are attached to, for instance adding the word Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If a player upgrades a gathering tool, and then replaces the glyphs by a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, excluding the inscriptions that can be swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important changes from previous versions. Gear is now categorized in tracks, and each item can be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The upgrade cost increases with each level up however, the materials needed aren't as high. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a couple of essential items and maximize their impact instead of spreading cost of upgrades across several pieces.

This will enable the item to receive upgraded components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy and it resets to 0 on failure or increases when the upgrade is successful.

When a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it will be able to receive an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's base. For instance, an uncommon or unique weapon with a base that is standard will only have two affixes, while a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade will require an amount of Flightstones and crests depending on the item's current level and the item slot it's in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.

If an item fails to reach its maximum level, the NPC offers the player the choice to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a new set or upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and cost the same amount of material. However it has a lower success rate.

Engineers use a level in order to measure the height of the building with an established location, such as a benchmark. This process is called a "level loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method guarantees that buildings are constructed to a high degree of precision and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item upgrade. It is an important aspect of the game and can significantly enhance an item's strength and damage as well as other characteristics. You can do this via the item menu, or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be expensive and should only be performed in rare cases.

To determine if a product is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button in the screen for their character. It will show the item's features, as well as the items needed to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards.
