The
Best Robot HooverThe
best robot vacuum robot cleaner hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as a dirt detectors) are positives.
Be sure to inspect your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large particles, and wash them when required. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They have motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have the feature of Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a good deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you are at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and provide better cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competition. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's more expensive and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the
automatic vacuum and mop robot's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house depending on how dirty the areas are.
If you own a larger home, it's worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you have a large furniture. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd think from its price. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to ensure better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
