The best robotic mop and vacuum robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end features (such as a dirt detector) are both positives.

Make sure you regularly check your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large particles, and wash them when required. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin located at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with the feature of Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors They are also adept at cleaning hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and works while you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best automatic vacuum and mop robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combo utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on various floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuum mop cleaner robot/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the competitors. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to live some more volume and some additional cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.

The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty the areas are.

For larger houses, it's worth opting for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot vacuums that mop to clean a particular area of your house via the app or via voice commands. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have lot furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to organize an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app also gives access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
