1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have test. They have motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other top iRobot models (including the top pick) they employ smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a great deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and ensure better cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of floors and rooms with different flooring types including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxy units This mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however it will cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with how dirty they are.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana.
