How to Upgrade Items in Pokemon GO

The Upgrade is one the most important items in Pokemon GO. It allows trainers to evolve Porygon2 into Porygon and advance in their Pokedex.

This item is rare but it is available by spinning a Photo Disk at a Pokestop or as a prize for special events. What does this item level upgrade do?

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons or gathering tools to give an additional bonus or effect when the item is utilized. They are a crucial component in the crafting process. They can be gathered by salvaging or buying from vendors. They can be found as drops in the game dropped by enemies, or collected from item spheres. They can be used to upgrade weapons or armor through an upgrade slot.

Using upgrade components to maximize the amount of experience gained when upgrading equipment and weapons is key to achieving the highest level of progress in the game. The addition of organic components to an upgraded item will increase the multiplier of experience, whereas mechanical components will reduce it. The best combination is a high experience-multiplier organic component followed by a low-experience-multiplier mechanical component. This will maximize the experience you gain and help you get to the next level.

The upgrade system is complex and it's essential to know how it works to get the most out of your upgrades. The system keeps a daily total for the component you are upgrading. Each component has an experience multiplier that could be either positive or negative. When the total is at an amount that is certain the system resets it to zero.
