Item UpgradesItem upgrades provide players with the possibility of upgrading equipment that they already have. This can be done by any item upgrader (

Generally upgrades increase an items main stat and can give it extra benefits, based on the item type. Examples include Whistan's shield for FB sorcs or Goldwrap for caster builds.
Armour
Link's armor is a crucial factor in keeping him safe from danger. While it isn't able to be upgraded like weapons, you can still enhance its defense capabilities in various ways.
The fundamental idea behind armour is to shield a person or animal from physical harm or injury in the form of direct physical assault or from a range of dangers to the environment or activity. In the past, armour was primarily constructed from leather or fabric but later, protections made of metal were used as well for military purposes, particularly such as heavy cavalry or combat drones.
There are a variety of ways to upgrade your armour, but the majority of them require you to visit one of four Great Fairy Fountains scattered throughout Hyrule. Each fountain provides a different level of upgrade with more protection levels requiring more rupees as well as materials.
First, Armor Upgrades are permanent upgrades. Once they've been installed, they can't be removed until you own a different piece of gear with the same upgrade. It is crucial to only apply the most effective level of upgrades to your equipment and that you have the materials needed to complete the process.
In terms of acquiring the required upgrade components, you'll find them in various locations around Hyrule such as merchants, shrines, and even enemies. These will generally be marked with the gold circle or blue triangle, and can be found in large numbers as you progress through the game. They can appear randomly, but there is a possibility that obtaining certain upgrades can trigger a quest that will reward you with more.
It's also worth noting that, even though the level of protection provided by each upgrade is different, it is the same across all upgrades and will always be superior to nothing. This is because a full set of upgraded armor will provide you with a substantial defense boost that protects you from all types of attacks, excluding magic, making it a powerful weapon for any class.
Weapons
If you want to make your guns distinctive, you can upgrade them by utilizing a variety of unique upgrades. These upgrades can boost damage or change the stats of the weapon to match your specific build. They also allow new attachments, such as unique enchantments and different types of ammo, and aesthetic options.
You'll need both the upgrade component as well as the weapon itself to upgrade it. The weapon should be at or near a certain level to upgrade it. Most weapons only accept a single upgrade.
You can find weapon upgrade components scattered around the globe and from the hands of enemies and can be purchased from vendors. Upgrade components are made up of ingredients that you can slot into weapons, armors trinkets, tools for gathering and other items to earn an attribute bonus. They require that the equipment be of a certain level to accept the upgrade and can be upgraded in the same manner as other items.
Upgrades are a mix of Smithing Stones (a type of stone) and Runes. They are used to enhance the stats of weapons and improve their scaling with other stats. These upgrades are available from enemies in the open world or from merchants. They can also be obtained through combat.
There are two NPCs that can upgrade your weapons: Blacksmith Hewg in the Roundtable Hold hub area and the Smithing Master Iji in the Road to the Manor hub area. Both of these NPCs accept your Smithing Stones or Runes to upgrade your weapon.
It's crucial to prioritize upgrading your most-used items first, and then items that you won't need to replace in the near future. Upgrade your weapon first, then upgrade your chest, shoulders, hands, and feet when you are planning to play in a melee-based build. The same principle goes for Magic and Utility Items, with the caveat that some procs may be better than others based on the style of play you prefer. The same is true for Armour, with some reforges being better than others.
Magic Items
A character is able to upgrade only one magic item at a time. If an upgrade project is canceled and the next upgrade for the item won't begin. Magic items that are upgraded will cost twice the amount of gold it would cost to make or purchase however they may have extra benefits.
A magical item is an item with special properties or effects. Most of these items are weapons, but there are some that are also armor, shields and cloaks, potions, scrolls, rings and other items. Some of these items are telepathic.
The majority of magic items be enhanced in their abilities. This makes them more useful to a player or help them to overcome a difficult situation. A weapon that is infused can provide bonuses to damage against a particular type of enemy, for instance. This is particularly beneficial for characters that have reached a stage at which they are likely to encounter the same type of monster repeatedly in dungeons.
A ring with an infusion could grant immunity to bludgeoning, piercing or slashing injuries from nonmagical attacks (not including silver-plated ones) until the next time the character takes a long rest. This is especially beneficial for combatants who are melee or any other character who wants to avoid the expense and hassle of buying an armor.
Some enchanted objects have special powers which allow the character to cast spells that aren't in their list of classes. This can be useful for characters who have difficulties keeping their spell slots full because of multiclassing. These items that are enchanted generally require an Intelligence (Arcana) check prior to use, and the spell's effectiveness is determined by rolling an array of tables based on the number of Intelligence points used.
Other objects with enchanted powers could permit the character's appearance to be changed or create a new appearance. These items are particularly beneficial for characters who have been forced to leave their home, or are in a location that they might not be welcomed. A magical item may grant them invisibility or make them invisible to everyone except the chosen person.
Utility Items
Utility items are any equipment that does not fall into the categories of Clothing or Armor and come with a range of capabilities. Utility items are not compatible with each other, in contrast to weapons or armor. The majority of utility items have a passive effect that the player can activate when using them, but some also have additional capabilities that are activated when the user presses an action button or activates an ability.
Generally, the most common type of utilitarian
item upgrading is the Flashlight that is used to illuminate the surrounding area. Other utility items include the Helicopter Cap and Rocket Boots which allow the player to hover in mid-air when moving, and the Jetpack which allows the player to accelerate in all directions while on the ground. In the Engineering section, you can create instantly a variety of utility items, while others are unlocked by research projects or experimental projects on the Proving Ground.
In addition to the items available in the normal inventory, players can unlock additional useful items of utility by buying them from the Atomic Shop and also from seasonal Scoreboard rewards (such as the Shadow Goggles). Some of these items can be upgraded to make them more effective.
Most utility items enhance an individual combat ability or give the player a kind of advantage when it comes to navigation. Sharpening stones, crafted by a Weaponsmith can boost power and Ferocity, while Maintenance Oils, made by the Huntsman will increase concentration and healing power. Other items that are useful can be used by the player to boost Damage or Condition Damage.
All XCOM soldiers can equip a utilitarian
item level upgrade at the start of the campaign. Later, an additional slot can be obtained through the use of certain types armor or completing engineering research or experiments in the Proving Ground. During the Alien Hunters DLC, additional slots are made available by equipping the Grenade Launcher, which lets the player equip an Smoke Grenade or Bomb in another grenade slot. an offensive grenade is placed in the main slot for grenades.
