WoW Upgrades - The item upgrade Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool or armor. button, which will show an item's preview at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. Once an Item Level Upgrade has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.

Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and an issue.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. After a player has upgraded to a certain item upgrader kit level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is regardless of whether the items are from another set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content at the appropriate level. This could be by engaging in outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. Once a piece of gear has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests only have one usage therefore it's essential to use them wisely. For instance it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all slots are full of high-quality gear.
