A lot of cribs older than that were removed due to the risk of strangulation or entrapment posed by the gaps between the mattress, the sides and the crib. Make sure the crib you choose meets the new BS EN1130:2019 safety standard, which is scheduled to be introduced in November 2020.
The new rules prohibit cribs that are used for bedside use from having sides that completely fall down. Most cribs have "half height' walls, which still allow your child to lie beside your bed, but offer a more secure barrier as they sink beneath the mattress.
