What is a
bedside crib travel crib?
A bedside crib (also called bassinet or co-sleeper) is a small baby cot that attaches to your adult bed, allowing your newborn to sleep in a safe environment with you. This is a form of safe co-sleeping that doesn't increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) like bedsharing, and can help you bond with your newborn.
They usually have a side that can be raised, so you can easily reach your infant during the night for feeding and comforting. This is particularly beneficial for mums recovering from an op. Many of them are portable or foldable so you can use them for travel and as a temporary solution for newborns who aren't ready to transition into a crib that is large enough.
Find a crib that has an air-conditioned mattress, as well as a protective cover that will keep your baby safe from staining. You'll also want to purchase baby-safe accessories like a blanket, teether and a soft toys.
If you are looking for a longer-term solution Some cribs have conversion kits that allow you to convert them into a toddler bed or cot at the time that is right. This is great for extending their lifespan and making the transition more seamless. Some even have a removable top section that converts into a bassinet, while others can be used on either an ordinary or high-rise adult bed. This is a good choice for families that plan on frequently traveling or switching rooms at night. Consider the dimensions of your room to make sure you can fit in the crib comfortably. Many cribs come with an incline that can be added to create an incline for babies with reflux.
The Joie Roomie Glide
The Roomie Glide, a
bedside cot newborn crib from the English brand Joie, is a great addition to their line of high-quality products for infants. The co-sleeper was created to help parents bond and sleep side by side with their children without sharing a single bed. It is full of features that help make bonding between parent and baby safe, easy and enjoyable.
One of the most important features is a smooth, rocking motion that can be activated at the touch of a button. This can soothe baby into sleep by a gentle rhythm that doesn't disrupt their normal sleeping pattern. This is ideal for older babies and toddlers who struggle to settle and can help with digestion problems such as reflux and colic.
The crib can be locked into place once the rocking is done to stop it moving. It can also be secured on the bed's side with clips and straps. This makes it extremely stable and secure, allowing you to get a good night's rest without worrying about your little one falling off into the middle of the room. The round shape of the cocoon features soft padded side panels and double mesh windows on both ends. This allows for airflow while keeping your baby safe.
The mattress is soft and firm. It is covered in a washable material. The crib is easy to assemble and disassemble with the lightweight aluminum frame that makes it extremely portable. The four lockable rubber-covered wheels ensure that the crib will not leave marks on your floors and are easy to move. It is easy to clean with cloths that wipe clean and is easy to carry in a backpack, making it perfect for long-term absences from home.

It also comes with a top bar which can be easily adjusted to accommodate feedings at night without the need to juggle zips.
Anna found that the CoZee was a safe and comfy sleep space for her newborn. It was a pleasure to not move like other models, so she wasn't woken up in the night trying to soothe her child to feed. She also appreciated that the sides of the chair could be lowered so that she didn't have to reach over her partner in order to carry the child out to feed her at night.
The CoZee is available in oak or charcoal and is a chic addition to any bedroom. It looks more designer than other cribs we've seen and are typically utilitarian. It's also fairly light at just 11kg and comes with a carry case so you can carry it on vacation or if you're moving house. The only additional items you'll need to buy are a waterproof sheet and a co-sleeping safety strap. The Iora is a bedside crib that is smaller and folds flat. It also comes with a travel bag so it can be carried anywhere. Our mum testers were able to move it from room to room and felt that it was a suitable size for a bedside cot, and not too big or too small. They also loved the large storage basket which is ideal for stowing nappies or bedding.
This is a great option for parents who wish to sleep in a co-sleeping bed, but don't wish to share their bed. If one of the partners has mobility issues like arthritis or back pain. Our mum testers loved the ease with which they could access their child while in the Iora and that it had an option to have a reflux incline which helped alleviate gas.
Our moms appreciate that the mattress follows NICE guidelines. These include placing the baby in the Moses basket or crib on its own without blankets, toys, pillows etc. They also claim that the mattress is firm and comfortable for the baby and easy to find sheets for. It's not as light as the other cribs for bedside use however it is a good choice if you are looking for something lighter and more portable, think about one of the other options in our list.
