WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases
item level upgrade level by 3. A random additional substat is also added to every upgrade.
The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the
item upgrader mod that is used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.
The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every few weeks.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, however they'll always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using the help of button, which displays an image of the item when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current item level. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades must be acquired through a variety of means that are both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was modified a bit, and several new features added. Once the player has upgraded to a certain
item upgrade level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This applies even if the items come from another set of equipment.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
Players have a number of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific level upgrades for items. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
First, you should know that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type or equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through working through content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an
item upgrader kit upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.
The use of these currencies isn't too difficult however, the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests with care, since they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the best gear you have available and save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount for the entire account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
