WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the
item upgrader kit is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.
The upgrader is located in all major cities and is accessible at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up-to-date.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through
item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with an The button will display the item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the
item upgrading slot and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.
Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no item upgrader available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was altered a bit, with some new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will cost less even in the event that they are part of another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced as well, but is only available when certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to equipment with a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, based on the kind of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could be by engaging in outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons that have a high difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can then be exchanged at an
item level upgrade upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
Using these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. Once a piece of gear has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. For instance it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment you have and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
