The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have test. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice), they use intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in removing hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our top option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and operates when you're at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot vacuum cleaner and mop robot vacuum for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is also great for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the compact models this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has a simple mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work, or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing with a bit more noise and a little more cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house depending on how dirty these areas tend to be.

For larger homes it's worth looking for models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home via the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you have a large furniture. Also the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to ensure better performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It's good robot vacuum at vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive, and a smaller base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
