WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an
item upgrades by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.
The more modernized gear generally has a higher trade value regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.
The upgrader is located in every major city, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same
item upgrader kit from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that are used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. The button will show the item's next level of upgrade, in the event that there are enough materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an
upgrade items coupon and a possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases with the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety means. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.
In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a particular level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will cost less even if they belong to another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced too, but it is only available after certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a couple of options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrade (
Read the Full Guide) level upgrades. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used on equipment of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable change is that crests only have one use, so it's important to use them wisely. For instance it's best to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you have available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan to make. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which will only be able to avail the discount for all accounts when all slots are full of high-quality gear.
