World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses such as damage from PvE and crit chance.

If the weapon's upgrade template is in %, the weapon will gain 3percent of its previous damage for every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with the item's level.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor to provide them with a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades also have special cosmetic effects.

upgrade items components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot to accommodate them; the item must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the non-ascended back items. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade could be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the item to the upgrade (for instancethe "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions using the smallest amount of upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level using normal methods.

A 'boost upgrade' can alter the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades are available to be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed mechanic. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or buying them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

The player can have the maximum of five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-level version of the item will appear during the next reset. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also give a bonus if reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the effectiveness of all nodes in a radius around them, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in various ways, and we suggest getting them up to level 15 whenever you can.

It is commonplace to see in the final game that placing Glyphs is the most effective way to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded directly to level 15, and they provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes faster.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without any restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values it can improve a statistic by, and the value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank or higher rank, which will increase the value of the Glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use and also through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs as well as also a few rare glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Each level of an item requires a different amount of components to be reached and the costs for upgrading increase as the item is advanced in level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained from finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level the item, and once enough are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When an individual player upgrades an item, the base item will be replaced with the new item. This means that the same armor piece will get an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item also comes with its own bonus. This could be a drawback since the item may be more expensive even if you do not need it.

If the player has enough tokens they can roll item upgrades. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it has a level 1 basis and totally different bonuses. This can be beneficial but it shouldn't be done often as it can waste resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled multiple times to increase their value, giving players the ability to alter their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants buffs when the player repeatedly enters or exits the water. This item can be upgraded several times, increasing the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item is highly important in PvP. A well-rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of a non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to increase the level of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets over ilvl 385 by offering the appropriate currency and items to an NPC that upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces improve the strength of their base defense and weapon upgrades items increase the damage they deal and also increase their strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear which can be upgraded up to eight times. Every each time you upgrade an item it has the chance to fail. The rate of failure increases as you go beyond the maximum amount of upgrades. The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is dependent on its rarity score and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to its value. For instance an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades for a price of. 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will have the lowest cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items have different upgrade requirements than standard gear--for instance, they may require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. Whatever the case, players will need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade cost mentioned above, each equipment upgrade requires the use of different upgrade ingredients.
