The Best Robot Hoover
The
best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Make sure you regularly inspect your robot's brushes for hair tangled as well as large debris and wash them if needed. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin in the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good value for those whose home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and operates when you're at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and offer better cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competitors. It's among our most appealing looking
robot vacuum cleaner reviews vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and look better. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and a little more cost it's a capable two-in-one that should delight most.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and cleans and drys mop pads.
The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house based on how dirty these areas are.
For bigger homes it's worth looking for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. Finally the recharge and resume feature that lets your
robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the
robot vacuum that mops mop cleaners that we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other
robot vacuums best vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we have tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
