World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.

If the template for upgrading a weapon is %, it will gain an additional 3% of the previous damage for every time it's upgraded.

The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the current level of the item. The cost rises with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into weapons, armor, and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra effect when they're used. These can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades also come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot for them. The item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be applied. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it's applied to (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions using less Upgrade crystals than they would need to reach the same level using standard methods.

A boost upgrade can modify the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. Leveling
