Item upgrade allows players to increase the level of equippable weapons and armor. This boosts the stats of the item and can also add buffs or rerolls an attach.

Requirements

Some upgraded items can only be rerolled only if the original item was Unique Epic, Rare, or Rare. You will require Power Dices depending on the item. (Dice 6 can be dropped by monsters 21+, Giants and Bosses; Dice 12 can be found from Bosses). Additionally, you will require different amounts of Minerals and Erons.

Time is a major factor.

Black Lion Salvage or Ascended Salvage sell a high-level salvage kit that allows you to retrieve all or a portion upgrade items components. Rewards

During the upgrade process the item will gradually advance to its next level, however, it isn't always able to reach the fully upgraded bar. This process uses Growthstones and Sollant however there is an 80% chance of getting an upgraded item within just one cycle. The higher the level an item is upgraded, the higher its stat value will be and the more items that can be upgraded.

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons, or armor in order to gain an attribute bonus or a special effect, when the equipment is worn. Certain upgrade components come with cosmetic effects. Players can purchase upgrade components through crafting, purchasing from vendors, or at the Trading Post, looting, or obtaining rewards. Players can also find upgraded items using an Upgrade extractor, or salvage with a high tier salvage kit. Glyphs that are placed in tools for gathering, can be freely swapped without any restrictions.

The player can transform an item to upgrade it into another item upgrading by selecting it and pressing the green button with an arrow for reroll. This alters the layout of the item's window, and allow players to select up to six items to "recycle". The item that is recycled will be exchanged with a level 1 item similar to it. Rerolled items will not retain their level, nor the resources used to upgrade it.

The highest level of upgrade an item can achieve is determined by its quality and tier. Rare and Epic items can be upgraded to levels of nine, while common items are only upgraded up to level six. Upgrades to items are added to the item's base statistics which means that they will no longer increase after a certain point.
