What is an item upgrades Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

The item upgrader adds a new widget to the top of the Angel and Cash Upgrade windows. The Manager is priced at 33 billion Angel Investors, and has no other benefit to the game, aside from making it easier to purchase upgrades.

Boosters

With an item upgrader you will be able to enjoy a number of bonuses. These could include stats as well as extra bonuses. These bonuses can be incorporated into weapons or armor, as well trinkets. Some items have a built-in boos that is not beneficial when upgraded. For instance the Goldwrap offers an additional slots for potion. These are often upp'd to add value to a perfect or near-perfect item.

Costs

Upgrades come with some associated costs. The most significant cost is the upgrade itself. This price is contingent on the new ilvl of the item and the number of perks it receives, and can be expensive. Upgrades to a higher level (such as Explorer to Champion or Veteran to Heroic) can be costly.

The second is the cost of items needed to upgrade. These items are usually Power Dices (dropped from monsters 21+), Minerals and Erons or a specific Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor Quests. These materials can be found in the inventory of an Upgrade Vendor.

The process of upgrading an item upgrades is complicated and requires time. It could take as long as 8 hours, depending on the size of an upgrade. The upgraded item upgrade's base stats are calculated using the new ilvl of the item bonuses, perks, and other properties. This calculation determines the latest Armor Class bonus, damage dice, and other crucial statistics. In some instances the upgrade will provide additional perks that can be selected from a list of benefits.

In rare instances, the upgrade will only replace the highest-costing benefits. Sometimes, the upgrader will make other adjustments to an item, such as changing its weapon damage type or adding or removing an operative or unwieldy property. The cost for these modifications is based on the item's new ilvl, and may require a special substance, such as the adamantine alloy.

Success Rate

Upgrades to items are based on an opportunity, and like every random system, there's the possibility that the upgrade will fail. There are a few ways to increase your chances of success. This includes the use of an Upgrade Pity or adding additional materials to your upgrade.

The Upgrade Pity can be purchased from the NPC for smithing in Lost Ark. It increases the chances of a successful upgrade by some percentage. This is similar to the luck bonus certain items offer however it is more stable. This can be added to any weapon or armor and can be used three times.

You can also add additional components to the upgrade to increase the chance of success. These are displayed in a window above the + button. However, there are limitations to this, and the maximum amount of material that can be added is displayed just above the + button in the UI.

A Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version thereof can be used to increase the likelihood of an upgrade item succeeding. This item can be useful if your weapon or piece is nearing or has reached the maximum level of its level. It will let you upgrade that piece of equipment to the next level without risking it breaking.

If an upgrade fails it will be returned to its original state. This is usually a downgrade, but could also be an upgrade. It is an excellent idea to save upgrades for when you're close to the highest level of an item, and use it as an emergency.
