World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses such as PvE damage and crit chance.

The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the current level of the item. The cost rises with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armor and trinkets to provide them with a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. They can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to equipment that has a slot. The item must be upgraded to a blue level before a component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment as well as the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

If the player has enough tokens, they can reroll item upgrades.
