The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detector) are positives.

robot-vacuum-mops-logo-text-black-png-original.jpgCheck your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model), they use smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for a wet one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum mop cleaner robot cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum and mop robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a good cleaning job on various floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's boxes this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the only robotic hoovers vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a concern in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some additional cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home via the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would expect from its price tag. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also provides access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we've tested. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
