UPVC Replacement Door Handles
The handles on your doors get worn out over time and will need to be replaced. In this case, it is important that the new handles match the exact dimensions of the handle that was previously used.
The three measurements to check are the top screw position, lever and key hole sizes. Use the size guide to assist you.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever or lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be put in on
replacement upvc window handles or new doors. This type door handle is available in a variety of designs and finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The uPVC/Composite
conservatory door handles handles are made of sturdy materials and are ideal for multi point lock doors which require a robust design. The handles are inline, and they utilize the same spindle and screws to fix them. They are easily fitted on new or existing uPVC/Composite door.
The spring lever design allows the handle to be set and angled to ensure a comfortable experience and is suitable for all users. The handle has been endurance tested to 200,000 cycles, which helps to ensure the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever is also adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is particularly beneficial for doors with narrower frames, where the cylinder is further back. A shortened lever can also be used on doors with a latch that can be activated with the thumb inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc operates differently than lever handles on doors. The handle can work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset spindles or inline (pad). They are generally used on UPVC
double glazed handles double glazed windows handles doors. They come in many variations & finishes.
The handles are available in a variety of finishes including White chrome, and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with a high performance and long-lasting durability for its intended purpose.
All UPVC levers for handles include a spindle and screws, and can be fitted on the uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm allow for a bigger handle, which is typically beneficial when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers are sprung, solving the problem of handles that slide out of their horizontal position when they are not in use.
It is essential to match the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when selecting the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is also called 'handle centres or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the correct handles.
Once you have decided on the correct size of PZ, you will need to ensure that the lever and push pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. These are typically a square or round shape, with an internal lever and external push pad.
The majority of UPVC Lever Pads we offer are spring-loaded. This means that they will return to a horizontal position after not being used instead of hanging, and possibly sticking in the frame. This helps prevent the draughts and cold air from entering a property. It is also the case that the majority of UPVC handle lever pad style handles are swivel that allows you to put them on either side of the door.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are commonly found on uPVC doors, but they can also be found on other types of doors. The cylinder lock is operated by a key which unlocks the cylinder's casing. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned with those in the lock, and permit them to turn the revolving camera, thereby opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with internal and external doors typically requiring different levels of security.
The choice of cylinder is essential. It's dependent on the amount of use your doors and handles will receive. External doors, for instance are required to be fitted with cylinders that are more secure while internal doors can be secured using a standard cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that increase security, for instance, anti-drill or anti-bump properties.
A euro cylinder must be measured correctly to ensure that it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. If you cannot measure using the lock in its position, you can remove it. It is essential to ensure that there is no extension of the cylinder beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.
The design of many modern cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease the chances of an attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in a different direction. This will help to prevent attacks and protect your doors.
Some cylinders are designed to withstand snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is much quicker and less difficult than gaining access through multipoint locks. It also leaves no evidence of a break-in, which can hinder an insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette is found inside the base plate of the door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to bring the multipoint lock handles to their normal position after usage. Previously a lot of handles of this kind did not have a spring integrated into them, and without it they are more likely to slide or drop when the
locking window handle mechanism is removed. Adding this simple component is among the best ways to correct this and it is also a great way to prevent your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in the open or closed position, as they are not always easy to manually close by hand.
These spring cassettes have been specifically designed to be used with sprung multipoint locks but they won't work with unsprung multipoint handles and you will need to have a bespoke hole cut into the backplate to allow them to fit (please check the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes are a solution to damaged or missing cassettes on the backplate of upvc door handles (
