How to Replace an audi car key G28 Engine Speed Sensor

The sensor is situated on the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer located on the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated at the edges of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends an electrical signal through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the flow of fuel, timig and boost. It also sends signals to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to correlate the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and where the camshaft lies so that it can activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft aren't in sync and could indicate chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper chain of timing. However, the code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing is a bit tricky since there are two connector pins and they have different functions however the best method of testing it is by measuring resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read around 1000 ohms when the sensor is at full operation. Examine for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you are experiencing issues with this component.

2. Injectors

Yesterday accelerating full speed from highway paytoll i had a big cut in power as if the engine was running out of gas or audi keyless Entry - Compravivienda.com, the injectors aren't firing at all. Today, i pulled out the spark plugs, three were drenched in gazoline, the 4th one was dry. I put a piece of tissue over each hole in the injector and when i start the engine without sparks, the ones with gazoline jump out. The fourth one remains shut. I inspected the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. I get 0ohm. I'm assuming the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected and is running fine when it is plugged in, but still has the intermittent misfire issue at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even if it is not plugged in, shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.

I'm not sure what to do. I feel like i've pretty much eliminated everything else. I'm worried that i might have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter functions similarly to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily find an extra in a wrecking shop or a parts store. Testing them is easy by putting your DMM in resistance mode and take measurements between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector end up) and 2 (2nd from the left on the black end of the connector). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY, and ADU) engines are equipped with an ECU that must be aware of the speed and position of the crankshaft to make decisions about timing of the fuel injectors, etc. It uses a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor audi q7 key G28 to accomplish this. If either of these sensors go bad you will get codes on the diagnostic scanner that can cause the engine to shut down.

Some of the signs of a failing G28 sensor include an inaccurate rev counter for the gearbox and gears that shift faster than normal, and/or a misfire when in gear. It is likely that your sensor is failing and requires to be replaced if you encounter any of these signs. They are cheap and easy-to-find especially when they're a Bosch model like ours. Alternately, the GM version of this component is also a great option.

5. Tachometer

A faulty engine speed sensor could be a cause for many problems in your car. It's an essential component of your audi replacement key service's transmission, since it relays information to the ECU about how fast or slow the car's crankshaft is rotating. This sensor could cause the transmission to fail and other components of the car to be affected.

Audi.jpgThe G5 engine sensor is located at the edge of the transmission, over the flywheel ring. It sends an electrical signal through an uncolored wire to the ECU pin T55/49. The ECU uses this signal to control the amount of fuel and boost, as well as timig. It also relays it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can determine if the sensor is in failure by checking continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. You can also check continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79trace [79]), and between pin T6a/1 and pin T26a/12. You should see approximately 1000 ohms of resistance between these two points. This is a typical component across the audi A3 Key fob replacement 80, 100, 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC to the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU. Good ones could be available in wrecking yards.
