Deprogramming

Recently, the lock button on my Berlingo was not working. It worked OK for a while, but then didn't respond to the key fob. The unlock button was still working though. I checked with Timpsons and Halfords, who both said that you can only deprogram the key fob through going to a dealer, and that doing anything else will result in doom.

So I took out the negative battery cable and waited 20 minutes or so to ensure that all power remaining been drained. I then tried to reprogram the key fob again. First, I had to make sure that all doors were locked using the key and then press and hold the large plip switch continuously for about 20 seconds. After that I pressed the smaller deadlock button one time and then released the larger button. The LED is now on all the time.

I then added the ignition key and turned it to accessory mode without turning on the engine. Then I moved the Plip key towards the receiver on the front of the vehicle. I then hit the large plip button and then the smaller plip button on the remote. The Plip now functions. This should work if your key fob is not responding to the remote.
